Fall is in the Air in Franklin, Tennessee

There’s something in the air and I’m pretty sure it’s the buzz about fall. No…it has not arrived, although last week we were teased by “fall-like” weather and it was GLORIOUS! It was just a tease…but what it said was, “It’s coming. Fall is coming!” And even though it’s early…Fall is in the air in Franklin, Tennessee.

All my life I wanted to experience the majesty of fall. I used to look at National Geographic when I was little and dream about living in a small town aglow with fall colors – scarlet and orange leaves…pumpkins a’plenty…and community festivals…you know – just like a Norman Rockwell painting. Sweet friends…dreams do come true because here I am in Franklin and when fall arrives and the hillsides look like a patchwork quilt and fields are being harvested…there’s a warmth in my soul that feels so comforting.

There’s also a LOT to do here in Franklin in the fall, and in my first year…I tried to attend everything, but I quickly learned that you can’t do that or you’ll burn yourself out on fall and that would be horrible! My advice is to choose what you and your family really want to do and KNOW that next year…the events that you might have missed this year, will still be there. They happen each and every year. My top two recommendations for September events are at the end of this post.

In Franklin, folks know that being outside is way better than spending your time indoors. There is so much beauty here and it feels like God is just calling us to get out and be close to His playground. This is when sunsets are at their finest…fire in the sky. I’m pretty sure songs have been written about Southern nights.

Evenings call for gentle walks down Main Street or just sitting outside in the backyard and taking in the sweet end-of-summer air.

There’s harvesting of the garden to be done and canning fruits and vegetables. This is all still new to me and I delight in these simple joys of life.

I tend to do more late summer cleaning than spring cleaning. I’ve always been this way. How about you?

So even though the official date of the autumnal equinox is September 23, there’s a feeling in the air and much anticipation for the beauty that accompanies it. I’m really hoping it lasts longer than 3 weeks this year. I know I’m not the only one who is waiting in anticipation for her arrival.

As promised here are two of my top picks for unique events that are sure to delight.

Fork Fest in Leiper’s Fork

3 days of music, food and fun at the Lawnchair Theatre. Come early before the entertainment starts to visit the shops and grab a bite to eat!

Events take place at the LAWNCHAIR THEATRE located just behind Leiper’s Creek Gallery. Bring your own lawnchair and a blanket to sit on.

September 10th: OPEN MIC NIGHT 7pm – One of the greatest events to happen each week in the Fork moves to the big stage. This will be a fabulous night of rising talent – and you just never know who will show up!

September 11th: MOVIE NIGHT at 8pm

September 12th: FORK FEST CONCERT

This is a wonderful event and if you haven’t been to Leiper’s Fork, this is a perfect way to experience your first introduction to this charming community.

Proceeds go to the Community of Leiper’s Fork so we can continue to bring you free events.

Made South Market

Made South Market’s inaugural event is happening on Saturday, September 12 at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm. This is one of the most anticipated events happening in September because it celebrates the finest makers of awesome things in the South. Over 100 makers, craftsmen and artisans will gather at Harlinsdale Farm for fun and festivities. I cannot wait! Be sure to go here and watch the video.

10% of proceeds will benefit Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital of Vanderbilt at Williamson County Hospital.

So tell me…am I too premature and what do you love the most about fall?

I love to connect with you. Here’s where you can find me.
