Beginning All Over Again!Hey it’s Cindy! Four years has flown by, and that’s just about how long it’s been since I did any writing here; and in spite of how my life has been super busy with Franklin Flannels, I’ve really missed the blog. You can’t exactly blog about flannel shirts and Discovering Franklin was this perfect outlet for me and hopefully – you. Do I have time to write every day? No. Do I have time for 3 times a week? Probably not, but I can try for once or twice and I hope you’ll come alo
Delightful Things…I’ve lived in Franklin now for 19 months and I’m finding that there are delightful things in the most ordinary places. Delight has taken on a whole new meaning for me, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite springtime delights. My garden and its lush shades of green after a winter of ice. Everything is coming back and I’m still amazed this actually happens. Hot air balloons flying over our house! Fiery sunsets… Peonies getting ready to put on a show… The flower guy at the
Lessons of Life are Not Always PrettyWe’ve lived in Franklin now for just over 11 months and I can’t help but reflect on the surprises we’ve met since our arrival. Leaving our home and friends and family and the sadness that accompanies that kind of a decision should be enough of a surprise, but NO…we’ve had a whole lot of other really BIG SURPRISES since we’ve been here and they have not necessarily been good or pretty! I’ve decided to get raw and very real with you because if you read this blog and you might b
We Made It!Through the sadness…the tears…the questions…the doubting…the inner dialogue…the voices yelling at me that I was making a big mistake…we actually made it with all pets in tact and accounted for. Now came the really hard part – unpacking the hundreds of boxes that were about to be unloaded from the moving trucks! Oh Dear God, please help us was all I could say. I had only been to the house twice before in May and this was now August! I didn’t remember much of anything except th
My Mom is a Trooper!I used to love our family road trips. I thought it was so much fun to pile into our 1957 Chevy station wagon and head off for parts unknown. We always had a destination in mind, but I’m pretty sure we had no plans along the way. It didn’t matter. I loved it. What I didn’t realize as a kid was just how much work my Mom had to do to make this all possible. Later as I reflected on the sandwich making in the front the seat; the Handi-wipes after eating; the spillage and the argum
1,999.5 Miles…Two Cats and a Dog!It’s a long drive on I-40 from Los Angeles to Franklin, Tennessee and we decided to NOT kill ourselves during the process. We drove approximately 500 miles a day give or take a few miles. My husband, Dominic (Guido) drove his car with our dog, Sassy sitting atop pillows and blankets and feeling quite cozy. Dogs are amazing. They don’t really care where you’re taking them as long as they are with you. Sassy is great car companion. I drove with my Mom (who is 84 years old and a
The Long Good-bye…It’s taken me almost two weeks to write this. Oh…I’ve tried, but the tears usually take over and I can’t finish because I can’t see the words through my tears. I feel a bit stronger now about sharing this roller coaster ride of emotions. We left Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 6 at about 9:30 in the morning. Because I found amazingly efficient movers out of Nashville, they loaded us up a day early, so our plans changed a bit and on our last night in Valley Village, we slept o
