I’m not…but I’m ready for all that Christmas brings to my life…quiet nights…family visits (my daughter arrives on Friday and my niece, the day after Christmas!)…last minute shopping…cold days and nights (hoping for a little snow)…coats and gloves and hats and scarves…tender moments…holiday movies…and the peace and joy that especially fill my heart this time of year. Let us remember what Christmas is really all about. Let us remember that Christmas is more than sales and stores and gifts. Let us remember why we have Christmas and in so remembering, let us also remember that from this gift comes the gift of hope for Peace on Earth – Goodwill to all Men. There was a whirlwind of festivities in Franklin this past weekend. Under think cloud cover the Leiper’s Fork Christmas Parade made it’s own sunshine…quirky, whacky and wildly fun…this parade benefits animal rescue in the community. The streets were lined with families and their pets…and there was a holiday spirit of Christmas kindness in the air.
It’s impossible to truly explain this parade. It doesn’t translate well…but trust me…just add it to your MUST DO List for next year. There are still animals available for adoption…just in case you need a last minute Christmas gift for your whole family!
Sunday was spent at Dickens of a Christmas in Historic Downtown Franklin and I think everyone in the state of Tennessee was also there. The streets were lined with vendors dressed in Victorian Dickens attire…chestnuts roasted on the corner…sugarplums were served…there was dancing in the street…Ebenezer Scrooge, The Cratchett Family and the Ghost of Christmas Present and Past hung out with Father Christmas.
Yes…it was a joyous Christmas in Franklin. And now it’s time to get ready for the big day, while also discovering creative ways to relax and truly enjoy the gifts of Christmas. I’m taking a little break to personally refresh and recharge…to spend time with my daughter and family and to really let go of the pressure to continually do…do…do. I’ll be sharing mostly on Facebook. So come on over as I continue to Discover Franklin during the holidays. Now would be a good time to add these two joyous events to your 2015 calendar. There’s something about community coming together that is so delightful!
It’s fun y’all….
As I plan for the New Year…I’d love to hear from you. What do you want more of…what do you want to know about Franklin and Williamson County…really I want to hear from you so please take a moment and share and share with me.
