Christmas is exactly two weeks from today! Fa la la la la!
In case you don’t already know…
I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I love the hustle and bustle (only this year I’ve slowed down a little). I love the decorations. I love the nativity. I love going to church. I love that my daughter is visiting for Christmas. I just LOVE CHRISTMAS!
And more importantly, I love Franklin, TN at Christmastime. I used to be the girl in California who would dream of experiencing Christmas in a small town where there were parades and celebrations on a Main Street and everyone greeted each other…and guess what?
Dreams really do come true because today…I live in the place I pictured in my mind for so long.
This weekend…Franklin has it all going on and I encourage you to get bundled up and head out to experience two of my favorite events of the year…Dickens of a Christmas and the Leiper’s Fork Christmas Parade!
Everything that you imagine will come to life and more.
We’re kind of famous for Dickens of a Christmas…in fact we’re renowned for it. Dickens’ beloved characters are all on hand…chestnuts will roast over an open fire…of course there are sugar plums…dancers recreate days gone by…the streets are lined with vendors and the shops are all open to welcome you. Oliver Twist will play his fiddle and Tiny Tim will melt your heart.
There will be plenty of food offering up hearty English fare.
You’re encouraged to dress in Victorian costumes, but if that isn’t up your alley…do come dressed in festive attire to capture the perfect family photo. Truly there are photo ops galore!
Dickens of a Christmas begins on Saturday morning December 12th at 10am -5pm. It resumes on Sunday from 11am – 5pm. This is a free event and open to the public. It’s a wonderful, magical time…Oh…and one more thing…
Mother Nature might not bring snow, but there will be snow at Dickens of a Christmas.
If you want to experience the quirkiest parade EVER…you must make time for the Leiper’s Fork Christmas Parade because, well…you just won’t believe it and it’s so much fun!
I devoted a whole blog post to it and you can read it here.
But know this…you have to come early and stake out your viewing area. There will be pigs, horses, alpacas, dogs, Santa, vintage cars…and a whole lot of Leiper’s Fork community uniqueness. I promise…this parade does not disappoint.
It’s happening on Saturday, December 12 at 2pm but you do need to come early.
Why not plan on attending this parade and head to Downtown Franklin after or before to take in all the festivities at Dickens of a Christmas on Sunday?
Hang out and celebrate the joy that our sweet town offers everyone.
It’s Christmastime in Franklin y’all!
