You know all those OLD family photos that over the years you inherited?
If you’re anything like I am, then they’re probably sitting in the bottom of some box tucked away in a closet…
And…every time you look at them you think…One day I’ll do something about these pictures.
I mean after all…these are your ancestors and they have no business living in a box in a dark closet.
Well…here at last is a great idea inspired by Gray’s on Main in Historic Downtown Franklin.
This is so cool…here’s what they did…
You see the old black & white photos hanging on the wall? Those are some of the customers who used to frequent Gray’s when it was the pharmacy back in the 1800’s.
Next to the cluster of photos is a mirror…no matchy match stuff…just random interesting mirrors. (This makes measuring so much easier.)
Here’s the IDEA..on the wall hangs the old and the new. The old is obvious…
But the NEW…is your face in the mirror…the NEW face of Gray’s!
I really love this idea and I’m going to do it along my staircase. I’ve been wracking my brain to figure out what to hang on the staircase and when I saw this, I immediately knew. So this weekend, I’m going to go through the old family photos again and try and figure out who everyone is…I mean, just in case someone wants to know. I’d like to say, “That’s my great great grandfather!”
Then…I’ll go buy a lot of inexpensive frames. The is NOT about the frame. It’s about the story.
And then…I’ll spend time searching the second-hand stores for interesting frames.
Then…I’m going to have Dominic hang them along the staircase.
Here’s the great news…this does not require precision measuring. It creates an interesting story and your old pictures can emerge from the box tucked away in the closet!
I’m not a Do it Yourself Gal…I wish I was…but I’m really not, but even I can do this project!
I’ll show you the finished product. It might take a few weeks.
