I love pretty things and I especially love pretty jewelry and I don’t think you need to use a whole lot of adjectives to talk about jewelry. It’s either pretty or it’s not…
So you can imagine my delight when I was walking through The Factory in Franklin the other day and I came upon Lizzy Couture – the prettiest vintage jewelry I’ve ever seen!
Oh and yes…it’s unique. I can use unique because Lizzy makes one-of-a-kind pieces to adorn any outfit you might have hanging in your closet! And one more thing you should know…Lizzy LOVES bling…a little bling on everything! The jewelry speaks for itself – It’s just really pretty and wonderfully creative and it’s all because of Lizzy – the artist with an eye for style and a passion for vintage and designing.
Like so many talented individuals, Lizzy is modest because her artistic eye is part of her DNA. She doesn’t struggle to figure design out…it just happens. What I love is that she didn’t plan on becoming a jewelry designer. In another life she worked in the music industry in Nashville for Waylon Jennings and Jessie Colter.
But life happened and she left the music business and began search for the her “next thing.” Lizzy always felt creative, but she told me that “From time-to-time I was drawn to a new artistic endeavor, but all I could do was find what I didn’t like.” But she knew she loved antique and estate jewelry and she also loved history – picked up from her Dad who fought in World War II (she has a military line to honor her father) and she started collecting it when she was little. At first she had a little case of vintage jewelry for sale in an antique mall, but she hated to sell it! (This is what happens when you love what you collect.) She decided to “make stuff.” (It’s hardly stuff!) She’s been mentioned in Women’s Wear Daily (not an easy task) and has graced the pages of InStyle Magazine, The Knot, and Real Simple just to name a few. Nope…not stuff. Designing and creating vintage jewelry finally unleashed her passion. “It just went BING! I can work 18 hours a day making jewelry. I finally found my reason to jump out of bed and get going! The only problem is that it’s hard to sell it because I love it so much.”
She recently moved to The Factory. This is now her showroom and her studio so you can see how she makes her magic happen. Lizzy has been collecting vintage pieces for years…has pickers in Paris and London who shop the flea markets for special treasures…and you get to wear them.
I can’t wait to go back with nothing but my imagination and shop for something PRETTY! Christmas is coming and Lizzy Couture is a perfect place to make someone’s Christmas uniquely special. But what if you don’t live in Franklin? You can visit her website and she’ll take really good care of you. P.S. She also carries one-of-a-kind gifts too. It’s a special place…plan to spend some time.
