Thank you Fall for stopping by this year! I’m sure going to miss you. I loved the fancy show you put on…and I wish you could hang out a bit longer, your splendid glory is quickly becoming a memory.
Last weekend I raked up all the leaves and today…well…it doesn’t look like I did a thing! Nature always wins in the end!
I sure hope you took a drive to see the show Fall put on this year because it was pretty spectacular!
It’s cold and pretty dreary and I think winter is upon us. Thankfully…this year I have HEAT! What a wonderful change from last year!
Franklin is in full swing this weekend…rain, shine or even frigid temperatures. The 150th Anniversary is kicking off. This weekend is the re-enactment of the Battle of Franklin, one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. Hopefully you have your tickets.
The re-encactment is taking place on the Eastern Flank adjacent to the Carnton Plantation and happens on Saturday and Sunday. I’m no expert, but I’ve learned more about re-enactments than I ever knew before and what blows me away is that the participants are sleeping outside on the grounds of the battlefield! Holy Cow! The weather right now is freezing…there’s a chance of snow flurries and we’re talking temps in the low 20s! This is some serious business.
For more information and to get all the details, follow this link. I have to say that Visit Williamson has done a fantastic job of sharing this historic event. So go here and learn more. Thank you Williamson County for attention to every single detail and dedication to sharing this story.
This would be a great weekend to check out Franklin on Foot – The Civil War tour. There are historical walking tours of Franklin where you’ll be mystified and entertained by Margie Theesin. You’ll learn the stories and be captivated by Margie’s story telling.
Are you in the mood for some serious Christmas? You’ll have to venture outside of Franklin, but the Gaylord Opryland Resort just flipped the switch for their annual Winter Wonderland with over 2 million lights! Bundle up and take the whole family to see this Christmas extravaganza. Information is available here. By the way…if you’ve ever wanted to see the Rockettes, this is your last chance to do so in Nashville. They won’t be back next year.
Want to relive one of the greatest Christmas stories ever? Studio Tenn will be performing “It’s A Wonderful Life” beginning December 4 and running through the 21st. Tickets are now on sale. I’m taking my family to see this special production. In case you missed the story of Studio Tenn…here you go. Here’s a little peek at George and Martha.
I just got back from The Factory in Franklin and all I can say is Wow! There are fantastic new shops from Lizzy Couture (story coming on Monday) to Relek Decor to Franklin Juice Co (organic, fresh cold pressed jucies) and Thrive Cafe, a vegan, vegetarian restaurant offering delicious food and yummy soups. If you’re looking for Southern Cuisine with flair…check out Stoveworks...home cooking at its finest. There’s a lot going on in The Factory and if you haven’t been in awhile…now’s the time to go.
I find that I’m weekend challenged because there’s so much going on and I can’t make up my mind, and this is just a tiny glimpse into life in Franklin. I really need to make a trip to Nashville and go to Coco’s for some real Italian food. My husband is missing his Italian food and someone just told me about Coco’s. I’ll let you know if it’s the real deal.
I also have to figure out what exactly I’m going to do with old chest that belonged to my grandmother. It’s in serious need of a re-do but I can’t decide whether to try and re-finish it or completely make it over some vintage paint. The jury is still out. What do you think? (You should know that one of the challenges with refinishing is that the original reddish finish seeps into the wood and permanently stains it.)
I’d love to hear your thoughts about it.
Have a wonderful weekend. If you live in warm weather…send us some Saturday Sunshine!
