Sweet Friends…you may or may not have noticed, but last week I was very quiet. No blog posts…nothing on social media…just silence on my part. My reflections on a difficult week…
I wasn’t ill. I wasn’t on vacation in Florida. I didn’t have out-of-town guests. I didn’t have anything going on that would keep me from writing, but what I did have was sadness….sadness over the all the vitriol flying around in the media and on social media from so many people. My Facebook news feed was filled with comments that were so filled with anger and they were coming from folks on all sides of the numerous issues we faced in our country last week. Truthfully, it was overwhelming and sad.
I won’t participate in these types of conversations and I knew that I had to step back…disengage and find some peace within. And this beautiful message showed up in my inbox…a message that was offered at just the right time.
What I’ve learned from this past week is that I can’t fix the vitriol or the nasty comments so many feel comfortable writing in the various social media channels. I can only show up and strive to do my best every day. I can live in integrity and I can be kind. I can treat others the way God has asked me to. I can stop when the world feels crazy and I can regroup and then I can keep trying to be my best self.
As long as I look for the good and always look up…I know I’ll be okay.
Sending you all blessings for a peaceful week.
