Don’t you just love Fall? Now that I live where there are 4 seasons….fall has taken on a whole new meaning. There’s an entire celebration around Fall and once again…I never, ever want to take this all for granted. Truth is…you’re some kind of an odd ball if you don’t get like Fall!
We decorate for fall…big time!
Want to see how some of the houses are decked out in Franklin? I took a little walk…Let’s go…
And…I also love a Festival! I mean what is there NOT to like? And there’s something about a small town festival that makes me feel like I live in a Norman Rockwell painting…well…I sort of do! They’re rooted in tradition (which I also love!)…they have all the makings that add up to fun…yummy food that can only be consumed at festivals and parades…music and dancing…a celebration of something – in this case it’s Fall…families, including dogs and so really…what is there NOT to LOVE about a Festival? This, my friends, is another reason why I LOVE Franklin! We have festivals and lots of them… and this Saturday, October 25, our celebration of all things Fall happens in historic Downtown Franklin. It’s time for Pumpkinfest…a full day of free family fun down Main Street!
We all went last year, but I have to be honest, I was really trying to adjust to my new life in Franklin and I’m not sure I was able to fully appreciate our fall festival. But this year…we have friends coming in for the weekend and we’re all going and the other thing about this year is that…I really do feel like this is home and for me…that’s huge! I’m super excited to see the extreme Pumpkin Carving Contest featuring the Leiper’s Fork Carving Club…Seriously? – amazing wood carvers showing their handiwork on a pumpkin!
You can’t have a Pumpkinfest without a costume contest…so dress up your little ones and head to Main Street.
Of course there’s food – all sorts of festival food from a variety of vendors, but you also don’t want to miss the Chili Cook-Off on Third Avenue N. (Yep…you can purchase beer to complement your chili.) I might have been in a daze last year…but I definitely remember the chili. Franklin shops will all be open…the weather folks are predicting a nearly perfect fall day…so make a plan to come to Franklin and have some good old fashioned fun! We have the Heritage Foundation to thank for Pumpkinfest. For all the details…go here and get the low down. If you haven’t been (and who, in Franklin, hasn’t been?) you’re going to love it. I’ll be there, so if you see me…please say “Hey!” What’s your favorite Franklin Annual Event?
