I love Puckett’s Grocery in Downtown Franklin, and if you’ve ever been there for a meal and some music…then I’m guessing you love it too. Puckett’s is iconic and people come from all over the world to discover the Puckett’s charm.
When you come to visit us…you can bet that a trip to Puckett’s will be on the agenda. You might never have heard of the musicians, but I can pretty much promise you that you’ll be in for a treat.
My husband took me on a date this past Sunday to see one of his friends play. First of all, may I just say that I LOVE date night…so anywhere is perfect, but this past Sunday…at Puckett’s not only was the music great…but there was a little bit of unexpected magic.
Singer/songwriter night is always a treat…because I love stories and this is when the songwriters share the story behind the song. So right there…if you love stories…this is the night for you!
Who was playing? Chris Caminiti (my husband’s friend)…Steven Clawson and Dave Pahanish – each an extremely accomplished musician and songwriter sharing their songs and stories with us. So that in and of itself is just fun and pure entertainment, but there was something else that happened in Puckett’s that night.
And it was this little thing called children…little girls watching Daddy perform…little girls swaying to Daddy’s music…little girls capturing the magic and the moment of watching Daddy sing.
Chris’ daughter, Sophia, got on stage…climbed onto the stool and sang with her Dad…and she belted it out at 7 years old…(I think she’s 7…I hope she’s 7 because I don’t want to offend her.) Watch this little girl, because she’s has zero fear in front of that microphone and she sings her heart out. And you could just see how blissfully happy she was…and her Dad…well…what can I say?
But then there was that moment…you know that moment that makes you want to move in closer so you can feel like you’re really a part of…that moment when a crowded room gets really quiet so everyone can take it all in? Well…that moment happened.
It was Steven’s turn to sing and he started talking about his little girl. Her name is Sophia Rose and she was standing next to her Daddy as he sang HER song…the song written about her and the joy she has brought into Steven’s life.
And her little face was looking up at him adoringly and she was swaying back and forth to the music and in that moment…there was nothing else except Steven Clawson singing to Sophia Rose. And just so you know what I’m talking about, here’s her song.
And all of us at Puckett’s got to share in that moment…with tears streaming down our cheeks and hearts that were just busting with love for this MOMENT…this little 4 minute moment out of our lives.
And it’s true…it’s the moments that make life so beautiful. Thank you Chris Caminiti, Steven Clawson and Dave Pahanish for sharing your stories with all of us on a Sunday night at Puckett’s. What a gift!
What was your last… very best… and most memorable moment. Will you share with me below?
