Sometimes my mind plays crazy games with me. Before we moved I used to lie awake at night and wonder if I would ever have any friends? Would anyone like me or want to be my friend? What would these new people be like? Yep…I used to think about that A LOT! It’s astounding what my mind can do to me, and when it starts talking to my heart…I’m often in for a rocky ride. But…I’m happy to say that apparently we are meant to have friends and good ones at that. And this was once again confirmed when our neighbors, two doors down, invited us to their home to carve pumpkins for Halloween! I can honestly say that Pumpkin Carving has never been so much fun! It was a continuation of the Franklin Pumpkin Fest earlier in the day.
Our neighbors Joyce, Mike and Adam are great people…and they made us feel like family. I’ve had a rough couple of weeks missing all my family and friends I left behind, so for this very emotional, weepy girl…Joyce and Mike and their entire family are a blessing for me.
(I didn’t get a good enough photo of Joyce and her daughter, Lane. I feel bad about not sharing them with you, but they wouldn’t have been happy if I had.)
There was more food than any of us could possibly eat!
And YES…We have pumpkins!
I’m grateful for new neighbors. I’m grateful for new friends. There’s something special in knowing that on those days when I’m feeling a little blue, I have a back door to go to where I’ll be welcomed.
I still go on this roller coaster ride of emotions. I guess it’s to be expected, but I can’t always explain how I’m feeling…I just know it’s there. Maybe I need to give myself a break…What do you think?
Share your thoughts with me…I want to hear from you.
