Summer has definitely arrived here in Franklin and it’s HOT and HUMID, but my brain still works so I have some random Monday Musings to share with you.
I did not attend CMA Fest or Bonarooo. Both were a tad too hot and crowded for me. Both festivals bring thousands of visitors to Middle Tennessee and I’m told that the music was incredible. Maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to go. Blake Shelton moved up several notches in my book after he gave a surprise concert on Friday night. Just walked on stage and started singing. I think that’s very cool.
And speaking of singers…I might never know Justin Timberlake, but he and I have something very important in common. No, we don’t share a birthday, but we do share the very same reason for moving to Franklin, TN. Yep…if you didn’t know, Justin and family are moving to Franklin and here’s what he has to say about why he’s moving. I get it…I totally get it. Don’t you?
Monday Musings and Food!
I went to my very first Ice Cream Social. I didn’t even know there was such a thing. What a fun event for a great cause. Miss Martha’s Ice Cream Crankin’ and Summer Social benefits the Martha O’Bryan Center, which helps children, youth and adults in poverty to transform their lives. It’s being added to my calendar for next year. You might want to put it on yours.
When it’s this hot, I want to eat light. Here’s my new favorite fresh, healthy and delicious restaurant.
Do you grill? I love grilling. Funny story…when I first moved here, I told someone I was going to BBQ and the response is one I’ll never forget. “You BBQ?” “Yes,” I said. “That’s amazing that you know how to do that especially being from California! What type of wood do you use?” Note to self: It’s grilling…not BBQ’ing.
Now back to grilling. I do grill and when I want to kick things up a notch I head to Savory Spice Shop for some inspiration. My pal, Hollie will elevate your cooking with just a couple of ingredients. Head on over here for some cooking inspiration. I’m telling you…you’ll be so happy you did. Be warned though…once you use their rubs, spices and sauces, you’ll never go back.
Coffee & Conversation
Our very first Coffee & Conversation was a huge success! I mean…HUGE. I had no idea how many, if anyone would show up, but you did and I’m so happy I decided to do this. At one point I looked around the room and everyone was talking to each other. Twelve of you showed up and I’m here to tell you that takes courage. It’s not easy to get up on a Saturday morning and head out to a coffeehouse to meet people you don’t know and ultimately, make friends.
It was a great morning and I’m doing it again on July 16th at the Coffeehouse on 2nd & Bridge, which by the way has the best coffee and crepes anywhere. More details to follow.
I love my church. I drive all the way to Nashville every Sunday to attend church. I’ve never said, “My Church” before and it feels so good. It begins my week with promise and hope and restores my faith in goodness. Yesterday church was really good…I needed to hear the message. Funny how the right message shows up at just the right time. I hope you love your church as much I love mine.
Have a great week Sweet Friends…
Grateful for my Sponsors and I love them All!
Do you know anyone who’s thinking about moving to Franklin? I can’t say enough great things about Tina Pierret and how she takes care of her “people.” She’s the real deal and I know you’ll love her as much as I do.
