We had the most glorious Franklin weekend…not just because there was so much going on here in Middle Tennessee, but because we had been on alert that a HUGE damaging thunderstorm was definitely going to make itself known on Saturday morning…a storm that threatened the safety of the marathon and wreak havoc on all the Country Living Fair and the Main Street Festival and well…anything else that was scheduled to happen.
But…it didn’t happen! It never materialized and it turned into the most beautiful spring day with balmy breezes and sunshine and billowy white clouds and well…it was pretty close to perfect.
I went to the Country Living Fair on Friday with my pals, Lesley from Chaoticially Creative and Jenna from Rain on a Tin Roof – also my partners at Launch Girls and we had a blast – lots of laughs…visiting with friends and checking out the minions of booths. While at the fair I was taking a little break and all of a sudden a woman said to me..”Are you Cindy from Discovering Franklin?” Oh my gosh! I almost feel over and she made my day – my week…she made everything shine more brightly on Friday and she had come all the way from Ohio to be at the fair with her daughter. (I’m not sharing her name because I don’t have permission to do that, but she knows who she is!) I just want to say Thank You because sometimes when you write a blog, you wonder who is reading your stuff and it means so much to me that she said “hello.”
I didn’t make it to all the places I had intended to get to because now that I’ve been here almost two years…I don’t feel the same sense of urgency to get to everything. This weekend I slowed down a lot and enjoyed the moments and spent time behind the lens of my camera.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I like to get lost in pictures that take me deeper into my imagination.
So here’s a quick rehash of my weekend…
I’m always searching for the peaceful places even at a crowded fair.
Saturday…we went to Leiper’s Fork for the 3×3 Gallery Showing…perfect evening…beautiful setting and loveliness everywhere.
You know I love this twice yearly event but I was particularly excited for this one because David Arms was sharing his new collection.
I don’t even know what to say about his work. It gives me goose bumps. It brings a tear to my eye. It captures my heart and it reminds me – always – that in a world that often seems dark and scary…there is always light and where there is light – there is life.
Have a great week Sweet Friends.
