Are you still shopping for a last minute gift? Christmas is coming and FAST!
How about giving the gift of a good book – you know the good old-fashioned hold in your hand book? Yep…those dinosaurs.
I read, and a lot! Holding a book in my hand with a yellow highlighter (it has to be yellow) brings me comfort and I’ve been stocking up on the books that will take me through winter.
I also love to give books as holiday gifts.
Is there anything better than snuggling in front of the fire…sipping on anything warm and reading a good book? I don’t think so.
Winter is a time of introspection and reflection for me. It’s taking in the stark beauty of the landscape and seeing the subtle colors in the grey and beige. There is color if you take the time to find it.
I have books piled up everywhere because I’ve filled all my book shelves, but this winter I’m reading with intentionality. I’m trying these days to do most things with intentionality. I love that word. I’m reading to nurture my soul, but I’m not getting all deep on you. Lucky for me, a few of my favorite people in the world have released books recently that I haven’t read.
Here’s my list of books with soulful purpose. I figure if I get them all read, I’ll be ready to soar when spring arrives? Does that seem really far away? It’s not.

I love Elizabeth Gilbert and her new book is non-fiction and all about living a life you design and finding a way to move past fear.
I can’t wait to read this book by Annie Downs. Being Brave isn’t easy, but Annie shares her journey to bravery with wisdom, wit and personal stories.
Ahhh yes…how to find real moments in ordinary life. I’ve read a couple of chapters and this book is lovely and important.
I have to admit, I’ve already read this book. If you’re familiar with the blog Momastery, then you won’t be able to put this book down. Glennon Doyle Melton is a truth telling warrior. It’s amazing.
My pastor Pete Wilson hits it out of the park with this book. You’ll find comfort in his words and you’ll see life in a whole new light.
Brené Brown’s latest book is magnificent. If you haven’t read her past books, I highly recommend you do. Buy them all and fill your soul with the power of vulnerability and discover why it matters so much in today’s world.
And finally…a book that changed my husband’s life and mine and gave us a new perspective on our marriage; Donald Miller is the real deal. Scary Close will leave you wanting more.
What did I leave out? Will you share your favorite books in the comments below. I’m always on the hunt for the next life enriching read.
