I know…not the normal Saturday headline, but when a new pie shop opens in Franklin and today is the Grand Opening…What’s Happening in Franklin is PIE – Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop to be exact.
I’ve been a bit discombobulated this week…first with the snow – the beautiful, glorious snow and then with my birthday and this might not be an excuse, but for me it is.
Do y’all know about Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop? They opened on Christmas Eve and today is their Grand Opening from 10am – 6pm, where you can taste their delectable pies while enjoying a warm cup of coffee on them! I have a feeling you won’t be leaving empty-handed.
Nick Marks, owner of Buttermilk Sky knew he wanted to open a shop in Middle Tennessee, and after hours of searching for the right spot, settled on Franklin just across the parking lot from P.F. Changs. He told me that “Franklin felt like the perfect location, ” and I couldn’t agree more.
“The community has been amazing and they’ve come out in droves to support us. It’s a lovely thing about Franklin.”
Not all pie is created equal and if you’ve been with me for a while then you know I have Pie Shame! I do not know how to bake a good pie. I think I’ve been saved by Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop. May I get a Hallelujah!
Opening a new business is never easy, but one of the surprises for Nick is that,
“Everyone has some sort of a pie story. I’ve heard stories about grandmother’s pies and memories shared at kitchen tables over pie…pie has a special kind of nostalgia and we like bringing that element of family and special shared meals to our customers.”
Buttermilk Sky offers 6 Daily’s and seasonal pies. The Daily’s are Apple, Buttermilk, Chocolate Meringue, Coconut Cream (oh my gosh!), pecan and I-40 their best seller.
The current seasonal pies are S’mores and Chocolate Chip. And YES…there will be a special Valentine’s Day pie…something about strawberries, brownies and chocolate. What else do you need?
Then there is the Pay it Forward Pie – the monthly Philanthropy Pie where a percentage of the revenue for that particular pie goes to an organization doing great work. February will support Thistle Farms.
Each morning the head baker arrives at Buttermilk Sky at 5am to begin baking the daily pies. Every ingredient is fresh and nothing is in the store longer than 24 hours.
There will be no more pie shame for me! Stop by today and welcome Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop to Franklin. I’m so happy they’re here. Let’s show just how much we all love pie!
443 Cool Springs, Franklin, TN – Open from 10am – 6pm
“It’s our mission to connect the past and present through the Southern tradition of scratch-made pie.”
