Tomorrow my daughter arrives and my heart is bursting. She thinks I’m a bit of a dork because of my over-the-top excitement, but do I care? Not in the least. This is going to be one Mother’s Day for the books and it’s not because we have a lot of plans…it’s because we’ll be together.
Moving has taught me so much about letting go of plans and stuff.
I hope you have a special Mother’s Day whatever you do and speaking of doing things…
As usual…there’s never a shortage of things to do in Franklin, Tennessee.
Feeling hungry? Good, because this Friday, May 5 Eat the Street: Franklin’s First Festival of Foodtrucks is happening in Downtown Franklin at the new Bicentennial Park along 3rd Avenue. If you like good food, this event is for you. Over 40 awesome food trucks will descend upon Franklin to share their tastiest offerings. In addition to the abundance of great food, there will be live music (of course there will).
You’re encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs so you can relax and indulge in some picnic-style dining. There is something for everyone.
Eat the Street serves as the 21st Drug Court’s most important fundraiser. The money raised through sponsorships and vendors’ fees enables the non-profit to continue to provide program participants with the services, treatment and the supervision they need to successfully manage their recovery.
Great food and entertainment all for an outstanding and worthy cause.
Will I see you there?
And it that wasn’t enough, on Saturday, May 7th Downtown will be buzzing again with Main Street Brewfest with shopping and a celebration of independently owned Franklin businesses. You know…we do things creatively here.
Main Street will be closed to traffic from 5am until dark, but open all day and into the evening for last minute Mother’s Day shopping.
From 2pm to 6pm shoppers and beer lovers will fill the streets to enjoy more than 80 craft beers and fresh roasted coffee from local brewers all while shopping.
Tickets for this event are $55 and VIP are $85. To learn more about the Main Street Brewfest, go here.
Have you purchased tickets for the O’More Show House yet? I’m super excited to see the transformation of this historic home on West Main Street. If you want design inspiration – this event has your name written all over it.
The house is located at 1006 West Main and is a 1919 brick and stucco Craftsman-style cottage and is being completely renovated. Twenty-two spaces in this 5200 square-foot home will be transformed by individual designers in the Southeast – many who graduated from O’More College of Design in Franklin.
The Show House runs from May 12 – 27 and is really a not-to-be-missed event if you love beautiful living spaces like I do. Proceeds from the event go to O’More College’s School of Interior Design. (No photos yet, because the designers are working away…but I’m going so stay tuned.)
It’s hard to keep up with everything happening in and around Franklin, but the reality is that there is something for everyone. If you like busy…go to an annual event.
If you like quiet…take a hike. Check out this article on 15 incredible hikes under 5 miles in Tennessee.
Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother’s Day!
